Festivals in Asansol
Asansol is the heart of West Bengal. It is not called so for taking pleasure but it has a rich amalgamation of different cultures and religions. People following different religions have settled here and celebrate their cultural festival with pomp and show. Their culture and festivals are not only heartily accepted by the local people but it was added among the local festivals of Asansol. This is probably the reason that Asansol is called the city of brotherhood.
There are many national and regional festivals celebrated in this city. Republic Day, Independence Day, and Gandhi Jayanti are among popular national festivals that are celebrated majorly. Among cultural festivals, Durga Puja is the biggest celebrated festival of Asansol. It is the main festival of Bengalis however, celebrated by each and every religion dearly. There are many other cultural festivals like Holi, Diwali, Eid, Christmas, Guruparva, Chhath Puja, Saraswati Puja, Vishwakarma Puja are celebrated by everyone.
Asansol is a city of joy and festivals, different religions are the reason for the unity of the city. Even culture is the reason for keeping a place alive; it works as a soul in the vacant body of a city.
